Vision

Studio Little Red was founded by Kate Lawler-Dean to be a collaborative hub where art and design come together to create inspiring spaces. Translating client’s philosophies and perspectives through collaborations with artists, artisans, designers and craftspeople. Little Red works with artists to interpret the essence of the creative goals of our clients, always attempting to push boundaries and expectations.

Little Red is centred around contemporary artworks, installations and objects with an emphasis on the handcrafted. Our expertise is a collaborative approach with emerging and established artists in both small and large scale installations. Our projects include public, corporate and private collections.

We are committed to social development and sustainable practices; finding local creative solutions whenever possible. We support and stand with BIPOC as well as LGBTQ2S+ communities and those identifying as female or non-binary. We are making a conscious effort to represent a full and equal spectrum of humanity in our projects and collaborations. Little Red focuses on developing projects that evoke, inspire and transcend.

Architecture establishes an environment, creating the spirit of place. Design elevates the senses while defining the utility as the mind. Art is the heart of a space, the final layer that should inspire and stimulate.

Founder

Kate Lawler-Dean was born and raised in Toronto, Canada where she learned at a young age to appreciate art, architecture and design. She received a Bachelor of Arts with Honours in Art History and Architectural Design at the University of Toronto. She first worked in the art world at an auction house where she was exposed to the intricate world of art sales. Upon graduating, she began working as an art consultant with James Robertson Art Consultants Inc. where she collaborated for over 10 years. In 2010 she took a sabbatical to pursue her own creative expression to study silversmithing and jewellery design at George Brown College in Toronto.

Kate’s expertise is in curation and project management for large scale international luxury hospitality, corporate, retail and residential projects. She brings her experience from large scale projects and translates it into personalized collections of artistic expression. Her biggest passion is to work closely with creatives to dream, develop and realize inspirational spaces. She focuses on the details, selecting artworks and objects that define the style of a room and bring whimsy and pleasure. Kate is looking forward to creating new and exciting projects with lasting impressions.
